Fitting new dials
« on: 07 November 2007, 20:00 »
Hi, i keep having this problem and cant figure it out?!?

I have put a diffrent set of clocks in my 1.4L golf and the oil light and buzzer comes on when its above 3000 RPM (which is the high pressure sensor signal)

Now i fitted diffrent dials to the origonal ones ( i fitted the later ones made by VW not motormeter) Which were out of a 1.8L,  I have tryed them out of a Single point 1.4L  and single point 1.8L and a GTI... ALL do the same thing with the oil light.

So... I found a set Identical to mine... but out of a 2.0L variant and this also did the same!!

So im just wondering, Mabey my origonal dials oil signal wernt working in the first place? I dont know what the limit is but could my engine have low oil pressure (would explain the knocking lifters)  Or would it knacker up by now?  been doing it for a good 15K miles.

OR... does my AEX 1.4L engine use a diffrent oil pressure signal to every other engine?

Any ideas any one?
