Spotted a very "nice" GTI yesterday
« on: 10 November 2007, 06:35 »
Went for my usual cycle yesterday. But since my dad has just paid a  amount of money for my bike to be fixed I decided to ride to his offices and thank him personally and not just over the phone (Im in a hostel).

For anyone who knows Cape Town somewhat well they will prob know where Observatory is. my fathers business is on Lower Main Road and while taking the turn off I got distracted by a metallic baby blue object that was parked further up the road.

Went closer and saw a stunning Mini Cooper. So naturally I whip out my camera and snap some pics and its at that stage when I see the United Grey GTI parked behind the Mini

Wow. 5 door GTI with R32 tails lowered suspension, 17's (and they looked really good) and then a fat exhaust out the rear. From the outside you could see the red pipes etc through the grill.  So I couldnt resist the urge. I snapped some pics of the GTi and walked in the garage. Wow. Inside they had a new TT with huge pipes and carbon and everything. It looked stunning along with a M6 that was being modified. My first thought was of RedRobin . I asked one of the mechanics how much power the GTi was pushing and...........

His reply was.....

310 KW of power    (Standard GTI)

The company that did the modifications is called racetech and thay said they have done faster GTI's including a GTi with a R32 Engine and 4 wheel drive.
Made my day... I would post pics but being the fool I am I forget the memory card at home and was taking pics of nothing. .

the point? manu_gti. south africa only got the r32 about 4 months ago. and the waiting list is almost 2 years! so a r32 in a gti most certainly aint pointless. not to sure where they got the engine etc from. but anyway. point is..... i want that gti! (please excuse spelling etc. using my cellphone to connect)         mike
