Rear Brake Calipers
« on: 29 October 2007, 08:22 »

Morning All,

Has anyone replaced their seized rear calipers for the MKIV calipers, its suppose to be an easy straight forward job with just an extension required to the brake hose, is this true?

TSR are doing a conversion kit for around £280, rear calipers cost about £60 you would need to get the hose made up but even so its not going to cost that much, or are the other bits I need that are included in this kit?

I am just wondering if it is a straight forward swap of calipers or in fact there are other modifications to be made.

Thanks for any advice or help

.. are dogs balls

I swapped mine last MOT for an other set of MK2 ones, wished I had spent the cash on Mk4 or late MK3 ones now, as my handbrake is still sh|t!!

Will be putting MK4s on next time I need to do them..

IIRC MK4 calipers are direct swap on late Mk2, with the longer hand brake cables? You just need the conversion hoses.

NOt sure which pads you use tho - Try a search as there is loads on it!

yeah easy peasy i have them on my mk2. all you need is a hose with a banjo fitting. goodridge make them but not sure if you can buy direct from them. i used mk2 pads and the only other thing like rowlers said, is you need the later type of handbreak cable.
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post
