Cold Air Feed

hmm.. I want to get some ducting and rig up a cold air feed for the VR6 (have a Pipercross induction kit on there at the mo).  Trouble I have is a fairly limited amount of room for the ducting to sit in.  It's going to end up quite close to a hot engine, with belts and things attached, so will some cheap ducting stuff (like this), get too hot and melt, or will I need to get something a bit heftier (like this).

Either way, I think I'll need some clever routing/shrinking with cable ties to avoid the belt.

Failing that of course, I could always raid a scrappy and steal odd solid bits of intake tubing to make something that fits reasonably well but is nice and rigid...hmm.

Any thoughts?

Plastic stuff would just melt i'm guessing. Halfrauds I believe sell the right kind of ducting. There's always a way of doing it;)

you can run a 80mm diameter ducting tube from the nearside bumper if you get some air scoops like mine... and for the offside where the airbox would go a smaller 50mm down the side of the wing. made massive improvements with my 8v. Looking at it standard theres no cold air getting under the bonnet for the induction kit!

Im suprised that when people have fitted them om mk3's over the years, havent posted more on this topic as just throwing an induction kit under the bonnet and not thinking how it will perform with all the heat from the engine sounds crazy to me??
