2009 Auto Zeitung Summer Tyre Test!
« on: 30 April 2009, 17:55 »
Just been having a look around at different tyre tests. I have the 2007 EVO tyre test and I bought a set of Goodyear F1s off the back of that test ( after having Michelins on my VWs for years). But I stubled upon this one. The results make interesting reading compared to the EVO tyre test

Pirelli came out on top in the latest Auto Express tyre test too, so they must have improved them loads!!

Problem is with tyre tests like this is that its an OK guide, but tyre performance and wear is so dependent on the car, the load in the car, the road and weather conditions, and more importantly your personal driving style its very difficult to really say what is best and should be taken with a huge pinch of salt.

Its like picking a golf club or tennis racquet purely on what Tiger Woods or Federer say about it, when they probably don't match anything close to your game and will actually make you worse.

Only way to determine the best tyres is to listen to what other people have to say with similar cars and then just try them out. Auto trade reviews can be more misleading than helpful IMO.

I can't agree with that result!

The Conti's I had were nowhere near as good as the F1's and Vredesteins I have now!!
