I have had some, idiot for the sake of being polite, run into the offside rear quarter panel of my 3 door 16v, he bent the axcel which has been replaced but the panel is bent to f##k.
Because it is where the wheel arch is you can't get at it from inside by removing any trim etc. I can't afford to have it removed and a new one welded on for the next year or so as am moving house and saving to get the entire bodywork sorted (slightly tatty).
It rubs slightly on the tyre when I have people in the back of the car and go over bumpy roads/speed bumps etc. Is it just a case of a mallet and a big lump of wood and banging the inside of the arch so that it clears the tyre for now or does anyone have any other ideas.

If you plan on keeping the car then I'd personally get a bodyshop to do it.

If not, then large hammer and a plank of wood sounds like a fun idea

no they have just payed out salvage value and let us keep the car it was only a normal policy not agreed value or anything so we got about ?800 but to get the quarter removed and a new one welded on and painted ?800 doesn't seem enough. I don't want a cheap repair but can't use it as is. It deserves to be done right but just can't afford it just yet.

screw a couple of self tapping screws into the panel and pull it out?  ???  i would bash with a hammer tho  :)

i had the same happen to me last week but not as bad as yours there paying out ?500 + 200 from me the  whole car done front wing back quarter panel bumper and full respray

do you know if that is just straightening out the panel or are they having to replace the rear quarter as well, if i can get it to clear the wheel properly then a decent body shop could probably fill and paint well enough to cover it. I could probably stretch to the sort of money your talking about. The assesor from the insurance company said a new rear quarter with it being welded on and painter would set me back about
?1500 which I thought was a hell of a lot. :)
