wet carpet!!
« on: 10 October 2007, 16:26 »
hello guys, im getting crazy with this, i have tried a lot of things but my carpet still gets wet when it rains. i have changed the windshield, changed the black plastic covers that are behind the windshield, checked the rubber corks that are under the carpet... im getting crazy! the passenger side is the side that gets wet, can it be because of the ruber door seal? the upper side its in very good condition but the lower side its a bit broken, i can see rust inside of the rubber when i remove the black plastic cover, but only in the lowest part, can the water get inside through it? has anyone suffered something similar? please tell me something!!!!

loads of people have, id search to forum previous posts if i was u,

usually down to the sunroof leaking as the runners get blocked (they let water out at the bottom of the front doors) their is a little rubber shoot near the hinge, could be a block,

also check the bulk head behind the ecu as the grommits can fall out!! and check the pollen filter area as this can also let water inside the car

grommits are the rubber bits that the wires go through...

basically hitting the car with a hammer untill all your stress has vanished, it does absoloutly naff all to fix the problem but may help u vent some anger......

please dont take this seriously

on a serious note, do a forum search as another guy once had the exact problem and listed what it was on a huge post he made

Inside the engine bay, check the lines of factory sealant between the uinner wings and bulkhead - i EVENTUALLY found a 1mm hole in the painted sealant between the wing and bulkhead near the wiper motor on the drivers side.  Do a search for wet carpet and i'm sure you'll find my depseration thread !!

Passenger side is more often than not the cabin filter assembly.
