MK1 cabrio questions
« on: 07 March 2004, 15:30 »
Hi there,
I have a mk1 cabrio, and I have a few of questions to ask:

Q1
Has anyone has replaced the rear lap seat belts with 3 point belts? If so, were they a kit, or did you use standard Mk1 golf rear belts?

Q2
Does anyone know how to top up the hydrolic fluid for the power hood, mine is showing well below the min mark.  If so, how and what fluid do you use.

Q3
There is a 'T' shaped handle on the power hood pump that seems to turn.  What is this?

Any help would be appreciated.

hi there,
the toggle is there just in case the electrics breakdown.  turn it anticlockwise all the way to pull the hood up or down and clockwise all the way if your keeping the hood up, or down.

Thanks guys/girls

Answers much appreciated.  I'll check my local VW dealer for some hydrolic fluid.

Would still like to know about the seat belt conversion.  Don't like my kids sat in the back with only lap belts.

Top tip when filling the power hood fluid, is to use a syringe. The hole where Dinky told you to fill it up, is a little bit hard to pour the hydraulic fluid into, and getting the fluid onto the paintwork or carpet, is going to make a mess.
