Turbo trouble

Hi, I dont quite have a gti but i have a tdi! At the moment i am currently having problems with my turbo or related components. I seem to get serious lack of power intermittantly (usually running temp)
I had a word with a few guys at vw and they gave me two ideas.
1. Mapth sensor fault? or
2. A blocked cat?

I can't see it being the cat. I think its an electrical fault somewhere because the minute i pull over and restart my car it clears and i have full power again.

PLEASE HELP WITH ANY IDEAS

Try getting VAG-COM or the car checked for codes at a garage as if there is any problems it should show a code. I had a split intake rubber pipe had low power but was constant so don't think it's that.
