Just to say Hi
« on: 06 October 2007, 18:24 »
Hi all,

My name's David,  I joined last week.  I have had since our conversion from Ford in 1982 a passion for VW's.  Immediately one could 'feel' the quality of the merchandise surrounding you, even though our first was a Mk 1C Formel E, you could rev the socks of this thing with the engine screaming and it would still come back for more even though it was only a 1.1.  Then we had a 1.3 Mk2 when they first came out, dreadfully underpowered, then a 1.6 Mk 2 Driver 75bhp (getting better) then a Mk 21.8 90 bhp Driver, this thing could fly.  Cornwall to Birmingham 3hrs 15 mins, 90 all the way NEVER missed a beat.

Then the mistake occurred, a 1.8 Vento, which was gone in 3 months, toooooo underpowered.  Then a Polo diesel, then 2 years ago my eyes lit up when I saw my current ride a Mk 3 2.0 16v Anniversary Gti.  I love this car.  We have done about 6k in this since buying it.  It has had a cambelt change, new axle bushes, two new Toyo Proxes on the front, new cam followers and cam chain, she sounds superb.

Take care all

Best regards

David
