Starter Motor problem?

Hi all.

I'm after some advice.

I have just bought an 8v mk2 Gti and after a week of using it i've noticed the starter is doing odd things.

Basically what it does is acts like the battery is flat (clicks and turns over but with low power and louder than usual) the funny thing is if i flick it a few times then it will kind of get over it and will start fine, it seems to be a Intermittent fault, Now at this point i checked the Battery and Alt just to make sure it wasn't a charge issue (that was fine), Anyway this was all done on Thursday and today i was talking to a Guy i work with about the Big folder of receipts i got with the car and lone be hold there is one for a new Genuine VW starter six months ago and a None gen one 18 months ago? So i'm starting to think there maybe another Issue with the car? but the funny thing is i know the Guy i bought it from and he only had it 5 months and in that time he never had a Problem with it?? Odd....

So what i would like to know is there another fault that could cause symptoms like the Starter is Going / Battery is low (even though its not) Intermittently?

I've spent the last few hours reading up and i'n no better off

Every one who has a similar fault says its the Motor its self, but i don't like the fact this car has had two new Starters in the last 18 months? Could it possably be something like the Copper Bush thats Gone and killing the Starter?

pull the regualtor out of the alternator and have a look, chances are it is worn, but it will give you no sign of that when it is running. Happened on mine.
