The offset rule
« on: 26 September 2007, 11:02 »
Hi everyone,

Just a quick question...

I'm looking to pick up some wheels this weekend and was wondering if they would be OK to use on a MK2.

The fronts are 7.5J, Offset ET20.
And the rears are 9J, Offset ET15.

Would these be OK?

Cheers!

how low is your car?

rears may cause issues if the arches arent rolled, but rollings easy enough to DIY.

I would say the drop's about 40mm all round. Ideally I would rather avoid rolling the arches, as I know 15/16 year old paint may not react too well

What do you reckon?

put wheels on, put a round tube - wheel brace, scaffold pole of similar on the top of the tyre.

get some weight in the back to compressthe springs so brace meets arch.

roll car back and forward until arch i rolled the correct amount.

thast hiow we did my dailys arches.

(i take no responsibility for any accidental flairing of arches)
