Upping the security
« on: 08 September 2007, 18:59 »
Decided to try and up the security a bit on my mk2 as its only fitted with some rubbish alarm at the minute that i want to get ripped out and replaced with a cat 1 alarm and immobiliser, does anyone have any recommendations as to what i should be looking at and who is reliable to fit around the coventry area?

Also heard you can get anti jimmy plates from vw??? does anyone have a part number for them so i can order some if they are still available and are they only for the front doors or do they fit the rears as well?

Does anyone else have any other security tips for them? I plan to delock the doors when the alarm is fitted and im going to fit some security torx screws to the handles ( where can i get them though and what size do i need?)

Any other little security tips will be great

I lost the lock barrel from the passenger side handle on mine and managed to use a 13mm bolt to fit the hole quite nicely - also pins the handle to the door :D. Theres the usual...

Remove door pins
Armour plates
Remove door handles
Ultrasonic sensor
Shock sensor
Automatic window closing
Door/Boot/Bonnet switches
Immobiliser
Move stereo into centre console and put gauges in the stereo slot
Leave a dog in the car

simple thing you can do is get another switch like heated rear window or simlar and use this to cut the ignition feeds the thiefs arent that bright and simple immbo , the door pin are good thing to loose and door handles are easy entry
