G60 stuff again
« on: 20 September 2007, 21:11 »
Well I have just sold, I hope my 8v. But then nothing is sold till the cash is in ones hands. We'll see on Tuesday.
Anyway. Gonna buy this G60 shed to restore.
1. Can I remove the compressor and still run the engine? If so, what do I have to do?
2. The BBS wheels are a bit ropey. I can either restore them or change them. Will ATS Cups go onto a G60 and will 3 peice multispoke alloys a la BBS also go on? (Thinking of gold hubs and silver rims!)
3. Do haynes do a seperate manual for these cars? Can't go and look as I live overseas.

More Q's to follow as and when.

1. Dunno, but why would you want to have a N/A lump running the lower compression a supercharged engine uses, it would be poorer than poor.

2. Dont think ATS cups clear 280mm brakes. BBS rm splits will, they were an optional fit on g60s new werent they?

3. No idea!

1. I doubt it.
2. ATS Cups....mmmm see above . BBS yes, no problem although depends on width offset etc...
3. No Idea, don't think so, although maybe you can get one for a Corrado G60 ?

You have to do something a bit clever with the serpentine belt routing (think you just use a gti one) but it will run... it'll run like a dog but it'll run.

You should not run a car with out a charger for too long its only to get you out of a fix. You need blocking plates for the return boost and a cap for the oil feed. Also a gti belt, but as already said the compression will be too low and run like a bag of spuds.
2. The BBS wheels are a bit ropey. I can either restore them or change them. Will ATS Cups go onto a G60 and will 3 peice multispoke alloys a la BBS also go on? (Thinking of gold hubs and silver rims!)
You need at least 25-30ET clearance I would opt for sebrings can get them cheap these days!

The closest manual is the G60 corrado from Bentley's

Although it will run rich the knock sensor and dizzy will retard/advance as it sees fit the ecu will default to a generic map in cases of dodge charger proberly? I still wouldn't recomend it for too long especially as a daily!

Got some Sebrings to refurbish. Was going to put them on my 8V. When I finally get round to doing them, I will use them for winter driving. Not sure what I will do with the BBS. I need new caps for them for a start. Anyone got any???
