My wife is younger than me 23 (I'm 27) and she hasn't passed her test yet. No real urgent need for her to drive because we live in London.

As for the Glove box catch, you get two bits, the outer handle and the inner catch mechanism. Just open your glove box, undo 3 or 4 screws (these fix the inner part to the outer handle) and pull the old bits out. Put the outer handle into place, line up the inner catch mechanism and then screw into place. Job done.
You can keep the lock barrel by the way, so you don't have to worry about a non-matching lock.

We'll I am nearly ready to get on the road, just need to sell my car which will be on ebay from this friday, once sold I can tax the golf and get motoring.

Looks nice mate, my last car was a mk3 16v and it was a great car.

I like the colour, has it got much history/old reciepts etc, pretty big miles but they can wear them well if looked after.

All its good, had a couple of silly little things to change (glove box catch, drivers window switch and an odd alarm issue etc) has a fully stamped service history and only 3 owners including me. I think it was owned by the same man for most of its life. Only flaw left to sort out is a patch of rust on the boot by the light and a new exhaust. Runs well and still pulls like a train. Well please so far, sorted out the insurance today so will be on the road on the 1st of September.
