I just wondered why you didn't have the whole rear valance painted?

I prefer it with the "diffuser bit" left in original plastic. You cant tell the paint has been cut in because of the recess in the bumper. Another reason was my theory (be it right or a load of rubbish) that the bumper being made out of the stuff not ideal for painting on, being close to the exhaust and constant heat may have caused the paint to flake in that area.

Personally I think it looks crap, as the ED30 (which I dont own) has the whole bumper painted!  it looks very odd with half painted to be honest, but each to their own I guess.

Nah it looks better that way
The edition 30 rear is different still remember... got the lip around the exhaust for one..
I guess it is all a matter of personal taste.

Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

That looks very odd half painted...looks much better fully painted imo. The black platic looks to dull. The black 'diffuser' looks good on a lighter car when its been painted black, like BMX's. My opinion obviously!

No probs, I couldnt afford to have the car out of action while they were painting the parts. I saved about 8% overall cos I have a friend with a trade account there. Its not much but better than a kick in the nuts.
