Sunroof Motor - any help appreciated!!
« on: 19 July 2007, 14:05 »
Hi Folks,

Has anyone replaced their sunroof motor on a mk3??

I've tried a new switch (but the same thing happens - new switch clicks just like the old one, but the motors dead!!)

Can the motor be replaced without upsetting the roof lining?, i.e., can it be replaced through the plastic motor cover?, and how does it attatch to the sunroof runners or pulleys??

If its a pain in the arse job, I'm gonna leave it (at least it doesn't leak!!)

Any help would be appreciated,

Cheers All!!

plastic cover off
2 screws hold it in
job done

but b4 u do that, make sure the little black cover that covers the manual wind hole thing for the allen key is pushed closed coz if its open it will not work the motor

its piss easy to change the motor tho if u do have to, no need to move roof liner unlike me who will have to as i am gonna fit a new sunroof.

Unlucky for you!! even Haynes say that its a pain in the arse job that should be left to someone else!!

If it needs more than a motor, mine'll be staying shut, but thanks for your help!!

I'm gonna get a motor from ebay and have a crack at it!!

Cheers again
