new car deal......any good?!
« on: 08 July 2007, 19:15 »
finally in position to buy my new golf GTi, have been looking around at various places, the best so far is:

red 3door
18" wheels
centre console
highline computer
leather seats

all for £21889 from Sainsbury car buying scheme, just wondering what you guys though of this and if anyone on here has bought cars from them?

I would try here: http://www.drivethedeal.com If I selected the right options when I tried it, it comes out slightly cheaper.

Also try:

https://www.broadspeed.com/
http://www.carselect.co.uk/home.aspx

I can't say how good any of these sites are in supplying the cars but carselect were very helpful on the phone. I got the cheapest quote from them, took it to a local dealer and they got to within £100 of it so I bought from them. Hope this helps.

Do you get Nectar points with that

Sounds a good price, does it include a 6 disc autochanger, if it does, that's £900 cheaper than I paid for mine.

I've used carselect twice now and they are excellent. I have also ordered an Ed 30 from a VW dealer, which was as a result of a Broadspeed enquiry. Both are very competitive on price in my opinion. I would use Carselect again, and I'll let you know in September about Broadspeed :-)

don't bother - most of the time you wont have your lights on,
even when you have you'll find that there is generally street lighting and you can still see.
very low payback/enjoyment factor from something you mainly wont use  - IMHO of course

I would say Xenon's are a must... drop the leather to get them   They look much better and of course they are simply superb on dark country lanes.... needed if you like to exploit empty country lanes as a driving challenge
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

18" Monzas and Xenons a must. DVD Sat Nav also desirable but there are some very good aftermarket units available. I also like the MFSW, Winter Pack and pearlescent black paint

If you are in a position to buy new, it makes sense to chose the spec you want from the outset - don't settle for a compromise as you will probably regret it later.
