Sump - 1300
« on: 01 July 2007, 21:17 »
Anybody ever doena  sump on a 1.3? I read, and it looks like, need to remove one driveshaft, and the exhaust? i was thinking I could possibly wobble it around the exhaust, surely? as I'm gonna be cleaning everything up down there renewing the gasket, and the sump as i picked a fresh one up cheap as chips, so tohught id go for it incase the old was warped, and it had been bunged aorund a bit, in a breakers stood on the sump and bumped when the engine was being fitted, admitted a year ago but still.. the breather systes been leaky so need to clear all that out, thats the main reason for this..

so does anyone have any tips?

my next door neighbour did the sump on his 1.6 cl last weekend said the same in the manual remove the drive shaft and exhaust. He didnt nd managed to change the sump no problems hardest thing was removing it from the gasket but a screw driver and a hammer and it soon popped off messy job though

I looked at doing this once, and gave up! Half the bolts holding the sump in place were hidden by drive shaft i think, though Haynes said it would be really easy, just undo the bolts and pop it off... they've clearly changed the book if it says you now have to get the exhaust and driveshaft off!
