Golf MK2 Window Regulator Removal/Replacement
« on: 20 June 2007, 13:43 »
Hi All, I have a new drivers door for my MK2 Golf 1600 CL. I want to fit the new door which seems easy enough, but I also need to swap over the window regulator and door locking mechanism from the old door.

Any advise on how to do this?

All info welcome!

Regulator is held in with 10mm bolts x 8 (use a socket set with extension to remove)... 2 on bottom of slider, 2 on top, to around the winder and 2 for the window holder thing.

will take no time to remove

the window holder thing just lifts up out of the slider when you remove its 2 bolts, watch the window doesnt drop right down! slide the window down first.

just lube the regulator up with loads of WD40 before u reinstall it, will keep rust at bay (you might notice rust forming where the bottom cable joins the slider)

you'll probably have to turn the whole regulator 90 degrees to remove it. the cables are quite flexible.

Also - good luck removing the door lining in one piece , if it splits... duck tape!

I don't think a semi will give the same results
