I had the Bluefin fitted to mine recently, it comes highly recommended! Check out the Edition 30 Superchips Bluefin thread where it was discussed in detail!

yes that is probably the reason.

On the R32 fitting a Milltek was a no brainer because the standard system was so boomy, and there was that lovely V6 noise to enhance. I am not so sure there is that much to gain on the ED30, although RedRobins quad system is reported to sound very nice.

It's not only sound, it is quicker throtle response, a few more bhp (they say 8-10% more), less backpressure = turbo feels better. I've read that turbos on Volvo S60 R sometimes developed cracks , because downpipe was narrower than the turbo exit...

Where did I say I was actually going to chip it?   After a 4wd R32, front wheel drive is a big enough handful for me with 230hp at the moment.

In any event remember it is effectively the same engine as the new S3 which happily runs 267hp from the factory. So I doubt its arse as you put it will be blown off

Erm, the map for the S3 was written by the "experts" at the factory, and not by some halfwits who only know how to crank up the turbo boost.

I assume a normal GTI Milltek cat back system would fit the ED30? Is it just the full system we are waiting for?

Looks like you just scored an own-goal - as the Ed30 has a completely different turbo to the standard GTI.  :smug:

A chip would definately be easiest - especially a bluefin!

But Bluefin certainly aint the best - and I strongly doubt their reliability!

Own goal? WTF are you talking about

Of course the Ed30 has a different Turbo, that was exactly the point I was making. Hence my question that maybe a CATBACK system from a normal GTI would fit.

What the hell is catback good for anyways? I don't get it... original one sounds fina and looks fine. Now, turbo-back - that's different matter!

Borrox, technically, you win and I loose, but in the real world, as Peskarik points out, you really need a turbo-back zorst with a h-flow sports cat (if any cat at all ) - maybe a "score draw"
