Old water reservoir - New water reservoir

Hi, just wondering if the water reservoir from an 88' 8v can be replaced with the later design one from the 90' spec models?

it can, but its not a bolt on swap.  The later ones have a different bracket thats bolted to the chassis leg, the early one is welded on. Soyou need to chisel off the old one, then find some way to fit the newun, either weld it or use studs as per OEM.  Also the lower water hose is a different length, and the level sensor plug is different too!
