Car paint

I just wanted to learn from the experts. How much getting a car sprayed would cost? Is it cheaper to do it yourself or is it just generally expensive?

depends on how much you want sprayed e.g. whole car, individual panels. Also depends on the aint you have, would you be changing the colour of the car? and metalic is extra. can someone correct me if im wrong.

 :smiley: HI JUST HAD MY CLIPPER PAINTED BY A MATE 1 ALL DENTS TAKEN OUT,NEW WING/BONNET 2 NEW REAR ARCHES, PAINTED WHITE AGAIN £1000 AND I HAD TO STRIP PARTS MYSELF. EVERY THING PAINTED APART FROM ENGINE BAY. HE SAID SAME JOB NORMALLY £2000  :grin: PS IT TOOK 2 WEEKS TO DO OF N ON BUT ITS MINT. I WOULD GET A FEW QUOTES AND TAKE IT FROM THERE

hiya,

wouldn't recommend painting it yourself unless you've got access to all the pro gear. my mate spent ages smoothing his MR2 and kitted out the interior. Then he painted it himself and essentially halved the value of the car. It looked like he'd used tipex.  :sick:

Yeh I wouldn't Reccomend spraying it yourself dude, unless u have painted lots before, Best bet is to get as many bodyshop quotes as you can, prices will vary Huge from company to company, a guess would be for full respray vetween £600 to £2000.

Try to visit smaller bodyshops as well as larger ones, as Insurance bodyshops charge loooooooooads more than smaller places!
Also pop into a local factors and ask for reccomendations on local places.

We recently did an Audi TT that had Acid tipped over it  :rolleyes: and charged them £1800 for full respray inc primer paint etc.. No panels were dented etc.. so easy job, but cost him a bomb!!  :shocked:

The paint world is the biggest rip off going if im honest mate, Factor cost of the paint to spray a whole car in say white can cost as little as £50 then to spray it maybe a few hours actual work then boom done... And you the customer gets charged £1500 ??
make sense??
I dont feel so bad tho as its not the genral public we do most are work for its the insurance company's!!  :evil:

does anyone know of any small spray garages in the south west who can do full respray cheap? i have a black mk3 and want a full respray done.,,,please help, contact me on jaysen_das2@hotmail.co.uk
