Can you get small sections of it? My decal only has 4 or 4 nicks from it and I reckon it'd be easy, and look loads better than it does now, to fill the gaps with carefully cut sections.

yeah go to the stealers and ask for a MK3 polo or MK2 Jetta door window trim strip, the bit on the pillars between the door/rear windows.
These are the same material as the hatch trim and pretty small :)
