Buzzin' (not in a good way)
« on: 14 April 2007, 18:55 »
Hi,

This is my first post, so forgive me if ive posted in the wrong part :)

I have a mk1 Sportline Convertible, and it makes a buzzing nopise at me. My mechanic says that this is due to an oil pressure warning controller behind the dash, a 2-stage pcb or something, that needs replacing or disconnecting if no longer available. A friend of mine who has had older vw's says that there is no pcb.

Anybody know if this is true, or what I might need to do to sort this problem out?

I'm not averse to actually getting the correct parts to rectify the problem but i dont want to have to pay loadsa cash out.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

unfortunately my cab  buzzes at me atm too, but thats due to a failing and tempramental fuel pump. does the buzzing actually sonud like it's coming from where your mechanic says? i'm sure someone like rubjonny will have an answer, im afraid i dont, unless it's coming from nehind drivers seat, then it's prob the fuel pump which is under the rear bench!

Yeah, the buzzing is definately from the dash area.

Elsewhere on the forum, i read that the oil pressure switch might need replacing, as this was what somebody else had to do. if this is the case then i've gotten off lightly, so long as I can find out what the part number should be for my model.

Any sportline owners/ANYONE AT ALL :P that can clue me in?

had the same problem on my sportline.turned out it was the oil pressure switch fitted to the wrong terminal by the oil filter.

Thanks, also what oil would you recommend for my car?

A friend of mine recommends going for 5w/40 skoda oil as it is top quality and the service i had might well have created the problem by having crappy oil put in.

Anybody else any ideas?
