hello folks,
been looking at the forum for about 5 months now, the same amount of time i've had my mk3. i had a 1.3 mk2 before and loved it. it had massive 13" three spoke alloys and pissed oil and water away like there was no tomorrow. audible oil light would come on after 20 seconds of the engine being on and there was a rust hole the size of wales next to the petrol cap. but i didn't care because it was a golf.
i had hoped i had been unlucky with my first one, and went for a mk3 8v gti as soon as i was earning money again. i bought the first one i saw for £850.

its been dropped on koni adjustables (dont know how much, im assuming 30/40) with a K&N filter, vr6 fogs and a s/s exhaust of some sort (the last owner put it on himself and its sitting squint).
in the 4 months since i got it i have had new distrubutor, new coil (cost 180 for an auto-electrician to come out to the house and do it -think i might have been robbed-) and mk4 alloys. The debadged grille was bubbly as f**k so i sanded it down and re-sprayed it. but i think its past saving.
im getting a new front spoiler soon cos the previous owner screwed the driver side off a kerb. also planning tints and eyelids. other than that i think it'll be sound.
thanks to all the posters on the forum. It's helped make me sound like a know what im talking about when speaking to mechanics, and saved me money taking it to garages.
