Mk1 heat sheild
« on: 06 April 2007, 17:24 »
Hi guys,

havent been around for a while, since neither has my car, finally got it back and its great, just using it as a weekend car at the mo till I can move closer to work! Anyway I've noticed it gets really hot down by the pedals so took it into my vw specialist and it doesn't have a heat sheild on it so doesn't deflect the heat away from the cabin, and so it has melted a rubber boot for the drive shaft! Plus my feet get really hot! VW don't make them anymore, does anyone know where I can get my hands on one?

Cheers,

Gem xx

p.s how is everyone?

Its been off the road having various bits and pieces done to get it through mot. Don't think I'll make it to santa pod as don't fancy the drive down without the heat sheild and I don't think it'll be fixed by then. Will try and make the summer one though! Hows your car doing?

gem are you still in leeds atm? maybe try continental autospares in york, or colin hick motors in york, as they are a VW parts specialist and their own garage. basically one company, one for parts, one for fitting.

good luck, and it's ncie to see you still have her!

I've used the heat shield off a Mk2, its ally so its really easy to cut/shape just the way you want it

Forgot to mention, I also need the brackets that hold the heat shield on. As I have no idea what I'm talking about, here is a diagram that they printed out for me...

The bits in yellow are the bits I need
