1.8 gearbox into an 8V 2ltr GTI 1998

Hi all

Will a 1.8 golf gearbox go into an 8V 2ltr GTI and if so how many adjustments would have to made in order for it to fit?
Also what would be a fair price for parts and labour for a nearside front wheel bearing and two wishbones? i have been quoted £150

Both the 1.8 and 2.0 use an 020 gearbox....the only problem i can see is the ratio's as these are different on 1.8 model's. have a look in haynes as these are quoted and they are specific to the gearbox code.
