How would u clean my R32 ?
« on: 08 March 2007, 20:36 »
So if you had my Black Golf R32 to clean & polish up what would u use????
I have been washing the car each week to keep her clean, but with the summer fast approaching want to do a cracking job on her.
I have heard a lot of talk about Zymol wax & shampoo products, are they as good as people are saying? (seem very expensive) Also any good recommendations for wax or treatment for the leather seats to keep them supple?
What products do you all use for that showroom finish?
Cheers
Eddie

to do the Zymol thing properly you need to get the autowash (£6 a bottle in Halfords), clay bar (meguiars one is ok, but zymol one much better), hd cleanse and a proper wax (www.vertar.com). The cheapest wax is Carbon - that lot will set you back over £100 but will last for over twelve months if you are fussy and wax every 2-3 weeks (you normally get 20-25 applications from one pot of wax)

Is it good - most certainly yes, but its labour intensive and you have to be dedicated - its not a simple matter of a quick wash and wax.

Sorry about the pics - my P reg tdi smoker just isn't worth the effort or expense of zymol  :embarassed:

However - in 11 years of using Zymol i'v found nothing that compares, Swissol is easier to apply but doesn't give the same finish or longevity in my opinion - my cars are used daily, washed every week on average.

If you do high miles or the car stands outside at night it might not be worth all the effort to be honest - you might be better off with something like Rejex, which is a polymer sealant developed originally for helicopter exhausts.

Meguiars all the way in my opinion. I use autoglym car shampoo (green one) to give a good wash, then I wipe down with a blade,  chamois with a real leather, the use Meguiars gold class wax and wax it up that way. Believe me it gives an outstanding finish without spending a lot of £Â£Ã‚£'s.
