aerials
« on: 04 April 2007, 07:14 »
right then, for the 2nd time this year, some little pikey has nicked my beesting aerial... was bloody glued in as well!

as im always up for something different, i was thinking if there was another option.

do most VAG aerials have the same fitting? more to the point, would it be easy to fit a mk5 mini aerial like that yellow mk3 that was in PVW a little while back?

or how about those shark fin ones, think they would look a bit too chav-tastic?

maybe i just need stronger glue?

yea... thats probs a good shout, but the base is broken now as they must of seriously f**ked around with it... could of bought one for £5 as well, lazy sods.

so we can add new base and new aerial to 'the list' now as well.

Mine seems to be missing a sealing ring between the arial and the roof! At least there is a gap.

Is that a fiver for just the arial or does that include the base?

it was just £5 for the short aerial, picked up from the barin bin at the local car accessory place.

GSF car parts do a aerial and base for about £11 i think, just a case of connecting the wire that runs under the headlining and jobs a good 'un.

How does the base undo is it just by twisting?

there is a nut on the underside of the roof that needs undoing, i think its a 22mm one. but i managed to get mine undone by hand when i was messing with it.

the pain in the ass comes when u realise you have to open the boot, unclip the plastic bit that runs across the back of the headliner, then try and peel the headliner down enough to get a spanner up inside it and reach the retaining nut.
