« on: 21 February 2007, 19:11 »
Ok so after it was raing heavily yesturday i got into my car to find that my stereo wasnt working, after a few minutes of driving it suddenly came on, it was grand for the rest of the night. Today it wouldnt come on at all, then it came on but no sound was coming out of it and when i turned the ignition off it stayed on!! Could it be a loose wire at the back? or something else?

Yes it sounds like a bad earth. But check around the base of your attenae for wetness and/or corrosion. Your radio also will earth through the coax to antenae sheilding as well as through the chassis. Also make sure that the earth returns from the speakers rout through to the back of the radio unit, and are not wired straight to earth. (Assuming someone other than you originally fitted it!!!!!!!!!!)
