Oil Related Problem
« on: 10 February 2007, 14:37 »
Checked my 88 8v for oil recently and there was basically nothing in it, it also began to sound a bit rough.  topped it up with some 10/40 semi synth and when i started it there was a rattley noise that got worse the more i revved it, took it for a quick spin and the noise just got worse and worse.
Has my engine given up??

Bottom to top of dipstick is 1 litre!!! You probably have put toooooo much in, check the dipstick and let some out b4 you bugger the engine up!!!! Ok might be over exaggerating but you will be putting strain on other componets??

Sounds teminal to me.    If you had to put 4-5 litres in to get it to the right level on the dipstick then you've probably sha**ed the engine. It only takes 4-5 litres max so must have been empty........If your're really lucky you might just have just wrecked the top end......
