Replacing spotlights (easy or not?)
« on: 28 January 2007, 19:41 »
I need to change my inner spots, but have had no luck in trying to get the old ones out!
Does anybody have any tips?  Two plastic lugs unscrew but the third one is looks tricky! All I've managed to do is to bugger up these clips without moving them......

the plastic holders always break when replacing the spots. GSF or VW sell the new fitting kit for very little cash.

rip the others out and use the new ones. easy!!

Thanks mate
Don't you just hate VW stealerships? you spend a fortune on parts and you always end up going back a week later for the fitting kit or the circlip they forgot to mention you'll need  ..................

yeah i hate it when they do that.

i now ask if there is anything else i will need for doing the job that i have bought parts for.

it still pisses me off though cos i live 16 miles from the stealers!

no need to unscrew anything, on the rear of the grille grip the clips and twist them 90 degrees, and the spots will pop off. Though as said they usually crack, but cheap to buy from VW :)

At £10.50 for both sides  I wouldn't actually call that cheap..............

I did make the job a lot easier though, as the white lugs I was trying to refer to previously were all brittle and buggered anyway. She sure does look nice now with shinny new spots and now matching shinny new screws visable in the grill. Time to save for new genuine headlamps .....................
