Full beam cut out why?

got the car now but sometimes she just loses power and cuts out when full beam is on! any idea why? ???

Most likely reason I can think of is that you alternators not supplying enough charge to run your systems, are you running ice? as this could increase the drain on the battery and hence lose power.

I'm sure someone will be along with a better idea (or maybe I got it right and they'll tell you how to test :))

you can get the output of your alternator tested at a garage, or do it your self with a volt meter

yes well it does have a huge set of speakers in the back and a 200w output from the head unit!

Best bet is to try disconnecting the stereo system from the rest of the electrics.

No doubt you got the fuse by the battery for the amp feed to the boot so just pull it out and start the car, put the beam on and see what happens, If it doesn't do it you know your draining your battery when your amp is on.

If it does do it and you've taken the amp out of the system then you know that its not coping with current it should be able to.

well it's not got an amp just sony head unit a 10 disk changer and a set of vibe speakers!

park the car up at night facing a wall.

start the car and put the parking lights on,
Rev the engine and see if the lights get brighter everytime you rev it.

If they do then the alternator should is fine enit?
