Tale of Woe
« on: 21 January 2007, 10:16 »
Wolsey did the first service on the Golf on Thursday morning. (15k, End April `06)

I asked them to check out why the NSR door was a darker red than the rest of the car - something I`d previously tried to ignore, but it`s undoubtedly more noticeable over time.
They took it to a local bodyshop to measure the paint thickness, where it was confirmed that it was consistent with the rest of the car, and thus factory supplied.
Diagnosis is that the original (matching) door was damaged by the supplying dealer prior to delivery and a different door fitted from another car !!
A VW rep is to inspect the car sometime this week.

Upon collecting the car, I noticed the NS wing mirror housing had bent inwards, altering my line of vision so that all I could see was the top of the NSF door skin.............which now had a brand new dent
After initially protesting their innocence, the bodyshop manager was summoned.......................and confirmed that the dent was not present when he had driven the car that morning. They had parked the car near a skip, and the high winds had blown a piece of timber out of it and onto the door.
So now I have NSF - dented, NSR - different colour

Fair play to Wolsey - thay`ve promised to put everything right and to provide a decent loaner for the 3 or 4 days while the GTi is being put right.

But it`s always nice to have a record of events, isn`t it

Bad luck mate, you could end up with 2 doors that dont match now

One dealer I took mine too came out and took digital pics of the car before it went in for a job. They do it for all cars before taking them off the customer. Good idea eh? Especially in your case.
