F reg GTI 8v spec, plus lumpy idle

Hi!

Because im so impressed with my very high milage mk2 GTI 8v :smiley:, i'm looking at getting another cheap one for donor parts or (if its in better nick that my current GTI) get it on the road.

basically its a dark metallic green 8v (so i've been told, I havent viewed it yet) thats been sitting in a barn for 2 years. A friend at work's son is selling it for £200.

Its an F plate model, so is this likely to be digi or k-jet? Big or small bumper?

The other thing is, my current 8v digi is occasionally spluttery at idle, but lacks no power. do i have to clean the AFM or ICV? where are these? i take it the AFM in on top the airbox with the wires running to it? how do i clean them?

1. F reg will be a digifant, since its metalic green theres a chance its a 1 in 10 million campaign, though these were usually on an E/88 plate.
2. Read thru my digifant tuning guide before you touch anything, the ISV might need cleaning though ;)
Worth giving the throttle body a good going over too.  Best way to clean the ISV is submerge it in white spirit or petrol while it is buzzing, shake it about till black stuff stops coming out.  Then give it a quick blast through with some silicone based spray lube, again while it is buzzing :)

thanks buddy, ISV  :embarassed: whoops.

where abouts is this situated? i take it its somewhere around the throttle body.  will it buzz when removed from the car?

supposing this is a campaign model, would it have all the luxury options i.e. E/W, PAS, etc? If it has none of these is it therefore a non-campaign model?

the ISV is located in front of the inlet manifold, has a connection to the inlet boot on 1 side, and uinderneath another connection to the end of the inlet and an electrical plug in the end :)

I don't believe the 1 in 10 million got anything special as std, just the rainbow interior and 'le castellet' forged 14" alloys?
The logbook should have 'a golf in 10 million' or something and the rainbow interior stripes on the cover though :)

gotta admit, the rainbow interior is nice, my current 8v has the lot inc door cards (must have been changed) and its the best fabric interior :)

Dont agree with you on that one, the nicest MK2 interior is the really late red or blue interior, VERY nice :cool:

Yeah I know thats a MK3 interior, but the MK2 seats look the same :grin:

You can get it with recaro front seats too, UBER rare!

i do still prefer mine though :)

he's just dropped the price to £70 so i shall have 2 GTI's shortly :)
