Missing Cam bearing cap?
« on: 16 January 2007, 22:35 »
Hey Guys,

Just bought a second hand pb head to have a go at Porting and flowing! My mechanic said "when taking off the bearing caps remember to keep them together as they are machined at the factory specific to the head!" Out came old faithful Haynes, and it shows 5 caps; one at the timing end, an end cap and 3 across the cam. In my head I have 4 caps, the last one though is marked up as (5). Where No 4 should be it seems to be cleaned back below any bolt holes, the oil supply under the cam is visable.

I asked my mechcanic and he sounded confused  :undecided: (probably my explaination??) Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks, Steve
