Need ride height advice
« on: 08 January 2007, 21:06 »
I have recently bought a '97 mk3 golf cabriolet 1.8 8v. The car already had a set of 17" 205/45 wheels on it, so i was wondering what a good amount to lower the car would be without any rubbing going on. 40mm maybe??? :undecided: Cheers, Mike

You should get away with 40mm, may get a little scrubbing every now and then, depends what offset your running. If you wanted to go any lower may be worth investing in a set of reasonable coilovers and having some work done to the arches.

sorry but i have to disagree...

40mm on 205/17's wont be a problem.... mine is 40mm on 215/40/17's which have a slightly larger rolling diameter than the 205's would, and ive got a boot full of sound system, and had 4 other people in the car with no scrubbing.... and thats with 8.5" wide wheels

in fact u can lower mk3's (well gti's at least) about 60mm and still have 17" wheels with very little problems.

the offset does dictate some of that, if u stick to around 35 - 38, then u shouldnt have any problems.

I still see there is a distinct lack of b!tch tit getting outage.
