2001 1.8T GTI (180) ????????

Hi everyone, newbie here after a bit of advice

Having had 4 Golfs in my younger days I am back after another one. Have recently had a 330 BMW, Alfa V6 GTV and just about to sell my Honda Accord Type R.

I really want a MK4 1.8T GTI and came across one about 60 miles from me that claims to be a 180 but on a 2001 Y plate, I thought these weren't introduced until late '02? Any suggestions or tell tale signs

ideally I want a totally unmodified one so I can mess about with it myself

it could have possibly been remaped to 180 but you are right in saying the 180 did not come out til 2002 for the anniversary and 2003 for the standard model

Cheers, that's what I thought, am after a standard one so will leave it alone! Didn't like the way the guy was all shifty on the phone, wouldn't answer my question directly
