My tappets are a bit noisy on startup when the engine is cold, but once warmed up the noise goes.  Sometimes though when the engine is hot, they rattle again for about 5 secs a time.  Its done 84k so I'm putting it down to wear and tear or a bit dirt in the system.

they tend to be a bit rattely anyway, they should calm down when the oil pressure builds up. this shouldnt take more than a few seconds tho

mine arnt that loud then again its does 197000 !
escorts hsc are loud i know to replace them once it soulds like an hsc.........but the noise doesnt cause any problems.....as long as it runs right........

the camshaft is mostly stressed at idle and at redline!

most people dont revs the cars up ie ton traffic which wears cam and tappets out quicker due to lack of oil!
oil rise's in the engine with the rpm...the higher the revs the more oil the cams getting!

most important thing it the oil level mines never gone below minimum ! i check it every day! near on....

also check the vr6 as well before we go out in it better safe than sorry.......

the only time you know oil is in the engine is when you check it!

may if you check it and change it may be you can reach 197000 miles!

i should get a medal from vw for looking after it like that!!!!!

gold vw badge medal! rappers have the merc ones......
i could have a vw one!!!!!

look what ive just found looked on the net for vw medallion and the beastie boys have one 1987 vw!
