Idle problems
« on: 29 December 2006, 14:08 »
Hi all. Got a problem with my 1.8 GL. Apart from airfilter its otherwise unmodified. Basically I have the usual problem of revs dropping right down, and sometimes stalling completely, when I dip the clutch and stop at a roundabout or junction or whatever so I had the throttle body cleaned out which seemed to sort it. That was a month ago and today it's started doing it again   It seems to happen more in the wet than any other time and always after at least half an hour or so of driving. If i let the engine die and then start it again it will idle just fine until I touch the accelerator, it will rev up ok and then when i let it idle the revs will start dropping right down again to about 200-400 before it dies again! When its playing up like this it still drives OK like normal though. Any suggestions? Cheers!

i had problem's with my old 1.8 when it was wet...next time it start's playing up squirt wd40 over the coil and see if that help's..mine wouldn't idle when wet and this sorted it..If not I think the temp sensor if f**ked as this will give extra fuel to your engine when warm and at idle it will flood it
