GTI Springs
« on: 27 December 2006, 19:02 »
Well, after a lot of sweat and blood i finally managed to graft a whole GTI front end onto my 1.6 FSI Golf. (If any non GTI owners need any help doing this, just ask)

however, i was wondering if any of the more technical ppl on the board could answer me this question.

Would a set of GTI springs fit onto a 1.6 model?

My car looks pretty near the real deal, but it looks too high. i've been offered some for a decent price, or should i just go for some aftermarket springs?

I'm no expert but  the models which are normally sportier/ lower also have bigger engines (heavier). So if you fit gti springs onto your 1.6 FSI the result would be that it could sit higher as there is less weight to initially compress them

Therefore result = american jacked up truck look

fair point, but i'm sure it'd be an improvement on how my car looks now!! i'm almost rivalling my brother's Merc M-Class for height!

You will be best buying some decent spring's designed for your car...maybe worth giving some of the vw tuner's a call and seeing what they can offer...I am sure eibach sell spring's for your's and they lower it about 40mm
