Actuator on Cylinder head
« on: 06 December 2006, 20:54 »
Something for Valve Timing. Ive been told that this may be buggered, and that they cost around the 300 mark. My 1.8T has been running a bit sh!tty of late and its been put down to this, which causes low oil pressure and the valves lifting at the wrong times etc. Can anyone gimme a few pointers on this if u have had the same problem or just know what you are talking about. I dont fancy paying for 5 hours labour plus parts for this unless i have no choice!

I think that you are heading in the wrong direction with that. I assume that you are on about the 'automatic camshaft adjuster'.
This will rely on good oil pressure to work correctly.........I wouldn't have thought that it would cause low oil pressure. You need to find out why you have low oil pressure and go from there.
