Front struts 16v?

Hi all. Had new front suspension struts today on my 16v. The car looks completely different now! The ride height at the front is much higher than the rear. Could they be wrong? Perhaps for an 8v or standard mk2? Thanks.

depends how much the difference is , there will be some difference as new shocks take time to bed in , also the rear shocks will be old and sag too , 8v standard ones will fit on a 16v and vice versus so if its out by alot there is potential you have picked up the wrong set , check the part number imo. this all depends if you got justs shocks or the springs too ofc! , if you got just shocks then they will settle over time but might still sit a bit higher due to being new (rears old and worn) if you got springs as well these need checking to make sure there 16v ones , place em agianst the old ones to check , should match each other.

New struts only, not new springs. Garage said they are correct, however, my 16v has no visible 16v badges! Might have ordered 8v ones by mistake!

i assume they replaced the bumpstops aswell? the shock might be resting on the bumpstops if your car is lowered.

ur meant to trim the bump stops - usually half height if your running lowered!

The ride height should be the same if the springs haven't been changed.

aye the shocks dont effect the ride height , maybe the springs havent seated properly or your rear shocks n springs are knackered which will effect there ride height. give it a few weeks to see if they 'bed' in imo

You need to check the spring support plate on your old struts, measure the distance from the bearing center line, to the base of the plate, on old and new, this distance should be the same, if the support plate is further up the new strut, this will increase the sprung pressure, and lift the suspension higher.
