Does anyone know how much VAG charge for an engine thermostat?

How easy is it to fit?

not sure on price but on my driver it was easy to replace, three bolts i think hold the cover on it, mines on me water pump

About a fiver i think.
It will be in the same place (under water pump) on the 8v/16v gti. But you may have to remove the power steering pump bracket to get to it.

Cheap as chips to buy just make sure you get a new gasket.
