Er guys, what did you think the silver line down the middle of your mirror was for? All gti's and vr's have em.

I can only see the silver line on the drivers mirror, and I thought that marked the point between the normal mirror view and the wide angle view. (Did know about the heated mirrors though!!)

yup thats what i'm seeing, and always thought.. hmm
Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

I thought it formed part of the "winter pack" option...might be wrong.

I'll check mine tonight!!!  I should have 'em on a 98 plate...
1998 Mk3 GTi 8v - now sold :(

the silver line on the mirror glass is the blind spot mirror (doh) but yes and to quote vw "MIRROR HEATING*THE ELECTRICALLY OPERATED OUTSIDE MIRRORS ARE HEATED AS LONG AS THE HEATED REAR WINDOW IS SWITCHED ON"end qoute info as per page 13 of golf instruction manual circa 1994

Hmm, i dont appear to have them at all . Very strange on a 97 R Plate .

Might have a look at the fuses to look for a problem .
