Just had the good fortune to "borrow" my mates 16v mk 2 that has been on my drive for a while for storage ,thanks to a 1k bill for m.o.t for my 2.8 passat syncro.
Got to fit a new starting motor in the next couple of days then a  a couple of months fun mk2 motoring will be mine.
Any tips or anything I need to watch out for when fitting the starter?
Another issue is overheating, I'll have to get this sorted as well, is this usually a sign of a major underlying problem with the engine?
Any advice or tips gratefully received otherwise I'll have three undrivable vws on my drive including the old beetle.
Thanks in advance; Andy.

the starter motor is easy but bolts through the front engine mount so you'll need to support the engine when you do it.
so is the car overheating at the moment or are you just thinking ahead of potential problems?
