URGENT... To All Rallye Owners...
« on: 07 October 2006, 10:33 »
My valver failed today because of my Rallye headlamps.

Here goes.

N/S (dipped beam goes out when main beam is applied) headlamp does not operate immediately when selected on dipped beam

O/S (Same as above

Offside (continental type beam image) headlamp not working on dipped beam

Right do your dipped beam lights go out when you apply main beam and is there a delay is what i wanna know please?

Don't wanna start messing with wires if there is nothing to fix  :undecided: Oh and how do i change it to RHD like the N/S headlamp?

Thanks guys

I thought it was normal for the dipped beam to go out when main beam is switched on. Only time both are on is when you flash the headlights with dipped beam on :undecided:

I think the lhd rhd pattern is changed by rotating the beam unit around in the back of the light :)

The dipped beam going out happens on all mk2's unless you swap the connectors on the back of the light around.

If it's the MOT place then tell them they need to re-employ someone who knows what they are doing. Some gimp tried to fail me on that when i got mine mot'd had a full blown arguement, to which his boss walked in and told him i was right. Cockers.

Will give it a go, thanks JV!

Yeah i thought it was normal for the dipped beam to go out when main beam is applied. Wiring would probably burn out if both were illuminated!

Well it's booked in for a re-test next Saturday so will take it back and question them.

I dunno, i found out the MOT certificate for the tractor Golf today only to find it's MOT ran out on 3rd October  Got another one to go through now...

Well took it to kwik fit ( :lipsrsealed: ) in the end to get the beam and unit turned around using their proper machine rather than my garage door to align the beam

WOW! Didn't realise how fooked they were  I CAN SEE!!i just thought it was the fact that the H2 bulbs were pants but no it was due to the fact that the headlights were A) pointing into the bushes at the side of the road and B) pointing into the air

Right Martz and JV, when you whack on your main beam do the dipped beam go out? Also is there a slight delay between the dipped going out and the main illuminating?

Need to be 100% before i go in there and tell them that "I think you've made a mistake"
