What is wrong with this thing?

Hi guys,my car has been sitting up for a while as i was on holidays for a month. Yesturday i brought it for a run and got some petrol, when i got home i left the car for a few mins, then when i started it again it was shaking violently! I couldn't get it to stop shaking and it kept losing its revs, could it just be bad petrol that i got? or would it be something more serious like the head gasket?

Notm uch to go on there fella.
Did the vibration change when you dipped the clutch? Did change with increase or decrease in revs? Was it present when in neutral of just in gear? Any strange noises?

The more revs i gave the less it shaked, but it kept dropping below 1000 rpm and was shaking very badly, it usually sits at around 1000-2000rpm but i couldnt get it to stay there, it does the same when its in gear, anyone got any ideas?

Is it a 8v or 16v, and what year? Sounds like your timing is well out, there's no way it should idle between 1 - 2k when it's running right anyway! Check the guides at the top of this board. Oh and if it's an 8v you better replace the blue temp sesnder I guess.
