I put a post on here a couple of week ago regardin my golf that wouldnt idle when cold, and had very lumpy slow acceleration.
I changed the dizzy cap, rota arm, ht leads, spark plugs, Fuel pump and ecu relays and the temp sendor, all to no avail the problem was still there.
I eventually took it to the garage as i had run out of ideas and didnt want to keep replacing bit and getting no where.
Well £336 later problem sorted. It turns out that it needed a new throttle body which has 3 sensors in it which was causing the poor idling problem, and a new MAF sensor which was causing poor lumpy acceleration.

I did have some test figures for the Maf sensor which I tried before taking it to the garage which all seemed ok. But once the throttle body was changed the voltage figures on the MAF were then out of tolerance, this is what was causing the poor acceleration.
Unfortunately the throttle body needs to be fitted by a specialist as it needs matching to the ECU and can only be done with the diagnostic equipment.
Thought I would tell you all my saga as there seems to be a few of you out there with the same problem as this and couldnÂ’t find a cure either.
Hope this helps
